Story behind the song
We've all had friends who are somewhat trapped in their obsession of choice. For some that's drinking, for others it's gambling - you know what I mean. No matter what it happens to be, these are the people that seem to be stuck in their own delusions, unable to break free. I found myself thinking about this after a friend of mine got tossed into jail for burglary. He had gotten into meth really bad, and was doing small thefts to fund his habit. I just got to thinking about it, and I wondered if there was some small part of him that knew what was going on. When he was by himself, sitting on the edge and preparing to jump off on another long binge, was there a part of him that wondered how far he was going to go this time? Did he know what he was doing to his life? Did he care? That's pretty much where this one came from.
Lyrics
If I stand here bleeding will they see? The wounds I've cut down deep inside of me What if I take a ride one last time, will it do me in? Will it mean there's no way I could get up again? Oh, will I find a way to pick myself up again? After this one… Oh, time is never on my side, I'm feeling empty After this one… Now I stand here facing the things I don't wanna see If I turn my head can I change my reality? It's hard to leave the reason I feel so alive A memory in me that just won't ever die Oh, will I find a way to pick myself up again? After this one… Oh, time is never on my side, I'm feeling empty After this one… What will I feel?
