No band, just me and I'm no performer
Story behind the song
I'm not a dog lover per se, and am mildly allergic to them, but got to thinking about what a dogs life was like and giggled all the way through the writing process.
Lyrics
COOL DOG
© Ricki E. Bellos
I’m Cool Dog
Bless my soul
I like jazz on the truck radio
I’m Cool Dog
Me and my guy
Always on the prowl for something fine
Wind in my face
Oh I could ride all day
He thinks he’s boss
Well I just let it slide because
I’m Cool Dog
Got Rex my bud
Between us we run the neighborhood
I’m Cool Dog
On the street
Sniffing any action that I meet
Sleep until noon
Then howl all night at the moon
But I never roam
Too far away from home, no, no
I’m Cool dog, yeah, yeah
Other dogs have to go to the vet
When they come home they’re never the same
I keep my legs crossed and hope for the best
Don’t ever want to have to change my name
I’m Cool Dog
For my lady Sal
When I go carousing she gives me hell
But I’m Cool Dog
And she knows
She’s my very favorite cause I tell her so
I live like a king
I wouldn’t change a thing
In my last life
I finally got it right, that’s why
I’m Cool Dog, yeah, yeah
