mike and i recorded ourselves singing 'twinkle twinkle little star' for the purposes of resynthesizing that recording with wavelets on our linux cluster. to make a long story short, this is a demonstration of a one-bit (on/off) system using subsample-accurate, single-cycle sinusoid wavelets with a von-han envelope. these wavelets, to allow for a distributed resynthesis, are triggered in layers, so as to avoid the quandary of subsample accurate timing across a network. the layers simply get toggled on or off, thus making it a one-bit system. the time-domain resolution of this toggling decreases over the course of the recording until the source material is totally unrecognizable.
