Singer-songwriter, arranger and producer: acoustic contemporary folk but ranging into rock/blues/country/jazz/humour...all very eclectic, I'm afraid!
Martin Stirrup Singer/songwriter An old folkie who got back into it... These days I sing and play guitar(s) and other stringed instruments, then score and orchestrate where appropriate. Story behind the song
A song of the apocalypse from a coward's perspective... I've absolutely no idea where the words came from, they just appeared to match the the guitar part. And for those listeners who expressed concern about my state of mind after 'will you dare' on 'My White Ambassador' - it's just a song, OK?!!
Lyrics
Take to the waters, take to the sky Unlock your daughters, no time to ask them why Lambs to the slaughter, the biggest dog will have its day Run away, Run away, Run away, Run away No time for leisure no time for ease Times long gone when you could do just what you please Lose the moment and it'll drop you in the fray Run away, Run away, Run away, Run away D F#m Bm A D F#m A Em A Em Victory is empty struggle makes no sense Plenty of anguish little recompense No time for heroes so get your arse down off that fence and Run away, Run away, Run away, Run away Run from the valleys run for the hills After years of saccharine it’s the time for bitter pills Four horsemen riding, chaos holding sway Run away, Run away, Run away, Run away
