A one-man-band with all-original material, writing, composing and performing since 2005.
My name is Evan Schafer. I am an independent (or "indie") musician with a strong grounding in traditional composition, but I like to think my material always has a unique and individual flair. I guarantee not being bored out of your gourd when turning on one of the records. I produce, mix, and engineer everything myself, and have done so since late 2005.

Story behind the song
Evan Schafer - drums, piano, Hammond B-3 I was at a true loss for ideas when "Take Your Time" came into my mind. I had set a goal for myself to have the 'Sounds' album be very similar to a classic rock-type, ELP-sounding record. Choosing the chordal structure for this song was very easy -- everything centered around B flat. There are technically two parts to the song, but it was neither written or supposed to be performed this way. Again, some improvisation on my part, but I guess being spontaneous in the studio is important while making a track like "Take Your Time." While there isn't really a melody, per se, there is plenty to listen to: the complex drumline which took me hours to perfect, the shrieking Hammond B-3 (which was the funnest thing I've ever messed with on a track -- the entire 2nd half of the song was improv-ed on the Hammond, by the way), and the driving yet minimalistic piano line.
