Lyrics
[4/4, with prominent Gospel beat] TUNE THE STRINGS OF MY SOUL --Rev. Skip Johnson 1. Lord, tune the strings of my soul Before I face the challenge of this day; Lord, tune the strings of my soul, May Your music be the song that I play; If I pluck life's melody while my heart is out of key, All my playing will be lost, I know; So hear the prayer I pray, and before I go my way, Lord, tune the strings of my soul. CHORUS: Lord, tune the strings of my soul, Lord, tune the strings of my soul; Hear the prayer I pray, and before I go my way— Lord, tune the strings of my soul. 2. Lord, take the time that You need To fill my heart and mind with Your light; Lord, take the time that You need, For all I'd do without You won't be right; If I strum life's harmony while my soul is out of key, My sharps and my flats will clash, I know; So take me in Your hand and set my pitch again-- Lord, tune the strings of my soul. CHORUS: Lord, tune the strings of my soul, Lord, tune the strings of my soul; Take me in Your hand and set my pitch again-- Lord, tune the strings of my soul. BRIDGE: The heat and cold of life can twist me Till my music's not fit to be heard. The struggles of this world have stretched me. Tune me by Your Spirit and your Word… 3. CHORUS: Lord, tune the strings of my soul, Lord, tune the strings of my soul; Hear the prayer I pray, and before I go my way-- Lord, tune the strings of my soul. TAG: Hear the prayer I pray, and before I go my way-- Lord, tune the strings of my soul. © 2008 Skip Johnson. All rights reserved.

Joe, First time I heard the finished song. You have a great song there. I like the way it says two things at the same time. I wish we had more time to polish the Mando parts. Your friend and fellow experimental musichican. dan

Hey Joe, I really enjoyed this song. It had a Woody Guthrie ‘round the campfire feel to it (probably the tonal quality of your vocals in conjunction with the acoustic guitar and mandolin), and sounded like the genre of the songs in “Oh Brother where art thou” . Rev. Skip did a nice job on the lyrics, and I can understand why (after reading them) you wanted to record the song. Thanks for sharing Ron
