A one-man-band with all-original material, writing, composing and performing since 2005.
My name is Evan Schafer. I am an independent (or "indie") musician with a strong grounding in traditional composition, but I like to think my material always has a unique and individual flair. I guarantee not being bored out of your gourd when turning on one of the records. I produce, mix, and engineer everything myself, and have done so since late 2005.

Story behind the song
Evan Schafer - acoustic guitar, vocals This track has more of a "live" feeling -- kind of like you're sitting in the room with me while I'm recording it. As many of the other songs on 'Maya', this was recorded in only four takes (one for each of the guitar overdubs - 3; and one for the vocals). I decided to leave all the studio chatter in the track to make it feel more 'at home.' You can even hear me kick the bass drum from afar at the very end of the track. I had always had this idea of using a metronome in a song. Not many people would use this as a form of "percussion", but I wanted to employ as many different and unorthodox things into 'Maya' as a whole record. This track and "River Valley Dawn" really prove this to be true, and I would say are my most musically and structurally interesting songs to date - although far from being my favorites.
Lyrics
Tall pillars stand all around It's quite a sight to see I can't believe I'm here Just the wishing keeps me alive Wander inside the vault of secrets Was it really ever there? Can I say that I took a trip inside? Yes I believe I can Hover over the building Fly far away into the distance Just enough to make me happy Kiss goodbye the nights of sorrow
