Story behind the song

I have now reached what I consider to be the Autumn of life and, looking at my parents (Winter), sons (Summer) and grandchild (Spring), decided to write a song about the Seasons of Life.

A child is born and through the years						
Learns of life through laughter and tears,			
Learns to live with fam’ly and peers,				
Learns of trust, of life, of fears.				
This is the Spring of life.					


Tests on adult abilities					
Brings on responsibilities,				
More of life’s liabilities             				
And its possibilities.						
This is the Summer of life.					


You look around and see you’re blessed,			
You see you’re done with your life’s quest.			
The kids are gone, they’ve left the nest.			
Your job is done, time to rest.				
This is the Autumn of life.					

And now it’s time to take life in				
To see what’s past and where you’ve been.			
To know that God’s forgiv’n your sin,			
Faith in Christ has let you win!				
This is the Winter of life.
