Soloist. Songwriter/singer. ASCAP member. A NICE WITNESS FOR CHRIST There is an extensive interview of me done by Scott Crawford, at . Do not let the site name alarm you. It is an "adult-themed music and entertainment" site. It is not a porn site, and you will not get tagged for spam if you go there. Scott is a journalist of integrity, who asked pertinent and penetrating questions, then printed my answers verbatim. Both God and His son received much attention in the interview. REVIEWS: "Fancy keyboard playing is the backdrop for this positive and upbeat collection. Hackley's vocals are reminiscent of Burl Ives." Review by Brent Castillo, The Wichita Eagle, March 5, 2005. "world's wimpiest Christian rocker". Brother Russell Podcast; : INFLUENCES (a very lengthy list, ending with...) "and of course, Richard Hackley." "Yet the songs on the Worst of the Worst can be compelling in their awfulness. Songs like Richard Hackley's rabble-rousing, hackles-raising spiritual God's Backhand ("We're not talking about tennis or Ping-Pong!") "; "Richard Hackley... HUGE musical influence. And a real bad mofo live.";

Story behind the song
Isaiah 6:1-8. The hot coal cleared Isaiah's sense of unworthiness. Now he felt he could talk to God. Jesus Christ accomplished the same thing for us.
Lyrics
(v.1) The prophet Isaiah saw a vision of the Lord on His throne The Lord had a job for Isaiah but Isaiah did not respond Instead Isaiah got fearful and focused on his unworthiness So God had to deal with that first before He could get down to business. (v.2) So a seraphim took a hot coal and touched it to Isaiah’s lips And said, “You’re sins are forgiven. Your guilt no longer exists.” So now Isaiah could forget about himself and concentrate on the Lord. And when the Lord asked, “Who shall we send?” Isaiah quickly volunteered. (chorus 1) 'Cause the hot coal did it for Isaiah. Completely cleansed his lips. It took all of his unworthiness and burned it to a crisp. The hot coal did it for Isaiah centuries ago And now there’s something even better than Isaiah’s hot coal. (v.3) Because Jesus Christ has come He did his work on earth Then on the day of Pentecost came God’s gift...the new birth. What the hot coal did for Isaiah the new birth does for us It takes away our guilt it takes away unworthiness. (v.4) So if today you would have a vision like the one Isaiah got Your mind shouldn’t go where Isaiah’s did no fearful or unworthy thought. ‘Cause Jesus Christ took it all no job was ever done more thoroughly He brought us into the presence of God where we now stand, holy and lovely. (chorus 2) The hot coal did it for Isaiah the new birth does it for us It takes away our guilt it takes away unworthiness. Yes the new birth does it for us even better than Isaiah’s hot coal ‘Cause when the Lord has a job for us... we’re all ready to go. We’re already past Isaiah’s weak moment we’re all ready to go.
