Acoustic solo act and will do guitar duets with jazz player Dave Caram
Steve Mac is a guitar player who plays acoustic primarily, rarely playing his electric. An extreme self taught technician, he uses six different techniques on guitar and touches upon eight different musical styles on this cd. A solo acoustic, creative, spontaneously recorded and concieved effort, his cd has twelve original, instrumental songs with four double tracked songs.
It is happy upbeat music that's fast paced and energetic. All tracks were done in one take, including the lead guitar tracks on the duets. Much improvisation is used, showing his ear for creating over a set of chord changes. Steve applies jazz improv skills to a variety of musical styles.
Guitar players will be impressed and stimulated to thought while listeners will enjoy a raw, honest, free-style and highly energetic blend of music.
A "fusion" of styles, his cd has elements of jazz, rock, bluegrass, blues, pop, metal, flamenco and classical. The different techniques include fingerpicking,alternatespeedpicking,sweeppicking,tapping,index-thumb duo and indexfingernail pick-sweep-&strum. It's like a lesson for guitar players but also a fun listen for all, an acoustic journey to the mountains hearing "high tech hillbilly fusion". The cd is titled "Acoustic Fusion in the Mountains". It's available on cdbaby.com. Some mean guitar playing here for sure. This is his debut recording of all originals.
