Story behind the song
"Donde Haya" (Where there might be) is a jazz-samba. I played it in Chicago a lot with my first group, the "Chicago Latin Ensemble" a trail-blazer 10-pc band that played everywhere, including Joe Siegel's renowned and highly respected "Jazz Showcase" on Lincoln Rd a block north of Fullerton. When I started playing it on the vibes with my jazz combo, I added an intro and a samba percussion solo. English lyrics were written by Maja Rios, jazz vocalist from Chicago and spanish lyrics are my own.
