Story behind the song
The Wilde Wood is a dark, ominous place, the primeval forest where wild beasts still roam and the Faerie Folk live. Traveler beware for your soul is in peril. For deep in the forest you will meet ………….. The Wild Hunt! The myth of the Wild Hunt exists in many countries including England, Scotland, Germany and Iceland. A procession of beings led by a spirit who roam through the countryside reveling, hunting, killing or eating everything in their path, the leader of the Hunt varies from place to place but is often a woman, a deity. The most common name was Perchta or Hulda, which was put down by Latin authors as Diana or Herodias.
