Asking For Alittle Warm Air
It's a Trio, Me, Myself and I
Story behind the song
I wrote this song during the 1983 cold spell in Chicago. I fixed a flat tire at that time and that was something I would never want to do again. I also walked home from a bar at night, a memorable occasion.
Lyrics
Asking For A Little Warm Air
(Jim Russ)
Living in Chicago the windy city
In the summer time it can be warm and pretty
But when Winter rolls around it’ll run you into the ground
It’ll freeze your toes, it’ll numb your little nose
Prepare yourself for the cold
It’s gonna be a rough one we’ve been told
(Chorus)
Yeah we’ve got a cold spell we’ve got us a cold spell
And I’ve been aiming my prayers to heaven and hell
Hope the Lord don’t care I’m just asking for a little warm air 2x
Starting your car can be so aggravating
Especially when it won’t it so damn frustrating
You’ve got a dead battery, you need a jump from somebody
Hold your cables up high to the cars passing by
Prepare yourself for the cold
It’s gonna be a rough one we’ve been told
(Chorus)
Don’t drink alcohol and be long outside
It’s a dangerous thing last night I almost died
I walked home from a bar didn’t think it was very far
I couldn’t feel my face my heart began to race
Didn’t prepare myself for the cold
It’s gonna be a rough one I was told
(Chorus)
Yeah we’ve got a cold spell we’ve got us a cold spell
And I’ve been aiming my prayers to heaven and hell
Hope the Lord don’t care I’m just asking for a little warm air 2x
