Story behind the song
This is the bridge for Pretty to think so - dividing the CD into its two parts. The backwards sax in 11-9 came from making the reverse echo in Riker's Island Blues. Another old song that Sue sent from LA on Cassette (spilt music/vocals). She did the rhythm track on an old Casio. To make it more interesting texturally I ran it through Cakewalk's P5 Spectral Transformer with different settings and faded the resultant tracks. I ran some of the "11-9" synth lines over into "Going back to Texas" so I've kept the songs together.
Lyrics
Feeling lost and lonely, singing the blues. Should've known I couldn't count on you. Close my eyes and you're out the door. Ain't gonna ache for your ass no more. (yodel) Going back to Texas for to lick my wounds Got a tape in my pocket full of Joplin tunes Gonna stick it in my head and croon to the moon Wishing you were here for to lick my wounds (yodel) Sucking on JD makes me wanna wretch I used to like it hanging on your breath Now it's antispetic flowing 'twixt my breasts Keeping my heart warm so my head can rest. (yodel) The big Texas sky lets your mind feel free Sunset on the horizon soothes the beast in me Making love under stars where everyone can see These are a few of my favorite things. (yodel) Feeling lost and lonely, boy, you got my goat I'm a still armadillo on the side of the road Feeling flies crawling all around my scaly head Wishing it were your fur or your lips instead. (yodel)
