Lyrics
MY TIME TO SHINE
“Got the design in my mind, bright lights in a line… yea I’m one of a kind, so it’s my time to shine. Take a deep breathe of air, no need to feel the pain. And I can’t go back now, I’ll never be the same.” -Kamakazeee. People make decisions in their lives that define who they are in the future. Liars would turn people into criminals, while “Bless you” can turn people into gentlemen. Not every choice made is significant but some alter everything. Those choices are the ones that make you who you are not just today, but in the future too. Your “Average Joe” who succeeds and becomes the most well known person? No, this is something more.
This isn’t about one incident, no…more like my growth as a human since I started writing. As a child I had always been interested in poetry and because of my mother I learned at an early age how to use words in writing and to express myself in ways that I couldn’t do verbally and physically. As time passed I learned how to construct my poetry and really enjoyed it. But time passed and the hobby died down as others arose. Yet when I was twelve, I started listening to rap and was amazed at the things said and the feelings expressed through song. I remember the first time I listened to Immortal Technique. His unique choice of words left me astonished. And his thoughts on government, politics and other problems like police brutality just got me thinking. So I decided to start writing again, but this time instead of poetry, I would write lyrics. A year later my work got better through artist review and I started feeling confident. So I decided to record music using my own lyrics. Six months into it heavy criticism came and I had a decision to make. Listen to all the hate and quit everything I worked for or I could do what I loved and continue to make music. I finally decided to listen to myself, so two years later I’m still making music.
I’ve learned how to accept criticism and to reverse hate into feedback upon myself to make me a better person. In the time I’ve made tracks I’ve become open-minded to segregation, racism and stereotypical natures and learned from others or mine hardships. And I’ve learned that life puts you down and all you can do is try to make things better. For decisions you make now can alter your life for better or worse. I’ve made a lot of good and bad decisions in my life, this just seems like the one that stood out and changed who I am today. Kamakazeee is a seventeen-year-old rap artist currently signed to an underground rap label, Triple R Records. Although not famous yet, he’s making his way into the rap industry. And I know one day he will make it…for I am Kamakazeee.
