A folky singalong song, quite pleasant don't you think?
acoustic harmonica blues harp vocals original mandolin folk
Watercress Thieves are currently a songwriting partnership made up of Malcolm Shipp & James Levan both from the South West of England. We have played together for many years and started writing semi-seriously in 2005, had to take a break whilst I lived overseas but now as of December 2007 we are working on a heap of new songs and planning to put together a full on Folk band in the new year 2008. So if you are into folk and play an acoustic instrument then do get in touch, multi instrumentalists with vocal abilities are the most welcome!

Story behind the song
About a guy who fell out with his mother and now she is on her death bed, he has to consider burying the hatchet! Originally written with just 2 chords D & G, James enhanced it a little and added a couple more. Almost getting the hang of this bloody studio so hopefully that should show more with each new track!
Lyrics
YOU CAN’T JUST LEAVE IT LIKE THAT A call comes, your brother He got some news on your mother She wants you to see her You don’t know what it’s like just to be her She’s waiting, your hating You’ll regret your anticipating Your problems, they can wait You best get down there before it’s too late, cos Chorus You can’t just leave it like that No you can’t just leave it like that No you can’t just leave it like that Not this time This bridge is not broken Some things are better left unspoken What’s been said is done now Don’t turn your back and run now Let bygones, be bygones Make your peace now before she’s gone There’s time now to do it Or live your live now and know that you blew it Chorus You can’t just leave it like that No you can’t just leave it like that No you can’t just leave it like that Not this time time time time LEAD BREAK WITH HARMONICA Chorus (part a capella) © Shipp / Levan December 2007
