Story behind the song
In the early 70s while living in Canada I read in a paper that I got sent from Scotland about a competition for a Song for Scotland. I wrote new words for the melody of Everywhere I Go that I'd previously written for my wife and sent it in to the competition. It didn't win but I still kept it in my collection.
Lyrics
1: male voice) Even though I've built my life across the seas, Scotland is my home Settled, prospered, with my wife, I am at ease yet Scotland is my home Land of wild-wood, Crag, loch and foamin' river. Land of childhood and of the heart for ever Poignant pictures, mem'ries rife to cheer and please. Scotland is my home 2: female voice) Strong the family ties that bind and loves that burn. Scotland is your home Fierce the conflicts of the mind that surge and churn. Scotland is your home. Land of wild-wood, Crag, loch and foamin river. Land of childhood and of the heart for ever One fine day perhaps you'll find you shall return, never more to roam. 3: Duet: words as above with male voice on verse words and female on chorus then vice versa and both coming together on the last line.
