His meticulous crafting of both lyrics and melody cannot dim his eagerness to share his musical ideas with his listeners. Story behind the song
We all know what motivated this song. The idea for the title and chorus came from something I heard a news commentator say. He said someone told him why the eagle was selected as the symbol for our country. It was because the eagle is the only bird that does not fear the storm. When I heard that I knew there was a song in it. The first line of the song came to me the thursday after the tragedy as I watched the rescuers toiling in the rain.
Lyrics
The Eagle Does Not Fear The Storm By Thomas Tamoria The heavens cry over Manhattan On crumbled steel and stone And the tears wept by our nation Bid farewell to the life we have known The acts carried out by cowards Spawn such heroic deeds As selfless assistance is rendered To those with immediate needs And the eagle is seen above soaring High with majestic form And the winds of war will not deter him For the eagle does not fear the storm No, the eagle does not fear the storm We all looked on in horror As brothers rushed into the hell In search of any survivors To be lost when the skyscrapers fell And tonight is the time to be mourning But tomorrow brings a new day And though it is sure to be storming We know that somebody must pay And the eagle flies into the tempest With plumes that are tattered and torn But he flies ever so proudly For the eagle does not fear the storm No, the eagle does not fear the storm The pain inflicted stabs deeply With a wound that will never heal And a silent rage fills us completely Our true character has been revealed It was foolish to think us complacent That decadence turned us to mice We are proud but we are also patient Retribution will only suffice The eagle has been to the desert And the outcome should have served to warn Let those who would harm us remember The eagle does not fear the storm No, the eagle does not fear the storm Copyright © 2001 Thomas Tamoria
