Story behind the song
Thinking about the way men have certain lines to woo us with and how we shouldn't fall for them...unless we just can't help ourselves, lol!
Lyrics
“The Girl That Got Away” By: Olivia Francis © 2007-BMI-ARR In an ocean filled with lovesick fools down below the corral reef Girl fish are lookin’ for a special mate to fill their love-starved dreams From the shore with baited hook, he flicks his line with a sexy look But when she bites the barb, she gets a rude awakening CHORUS: She’s the girl that got away, Yeah! More than once she survived… The sting of love’s cruel game She knew somethin’ was fishy but it’s hard to tell fiction from fact, When it’s disguised in a camouflaged coated trap BREAK Yeah! He thinks he’s got his hook in her, and begins to reel her in But she’s getting’ wise to all the lies, snaps the line and quickly swims With tackle-box in tow he heads back home, empty-handed again Thinkin’ bout the girl who got away, but that’s not what he tells his friends CHORUS: Yeah! She’s the girl that got away, one more time she survived… The sting of love’s cruel game Yeah! She knew somethin’ was fishy but it’s hard to tell fiction from fact, When it’s disguised in a camouflaged coated trap BRDGE: In the school of love she’s learnin’ not to fall For dangling propositions…and kiss me quick know-it-alls Repeat Chorus TAG
