I STILL DO
I came across an old picture today
In the bottom of a box I was throwing away
I don't know why, but it caught my eye
I thought it might be someone we knew
'was a couple of kids, they looked a little like us
I pulled it out and I blew off the dust
And, in my mind, I went back in time,
To the day I married you
I was a little more scared then, a little less tame
Had a little more hair, but I was shorter on brains
Working part-time and counting each dime
We didn't have a fancy to-do
And I was shaking like a leaf, I think you were too
When the preacher turned to me and he said, “Do you…..?”
Seems like a lifetime ago when I said that I did
And I still do
I still love you now, the fire still burns
And I'll stand by you for better or worse
I cherish you now like I did back then
I'm still walking on air 'cause you're my best friend
And I love to go to sleep lyin' by your side
I still love to see your face when I open my eyes
Seems like a lifetime ago when I said that I did
And I still do
I can't recall the last time I thought of that day
You get caught up in life, the memory fades
A simple "I love you" doesn't get said enough
Guess I just assumed that you knew
You take it for granted, time covers your tracks
'till an old, washed out picture makes you turn and look back
And call up a time from the back of your mind
Like the day I married you
I had a little more time to pick you flowers each day
A little more time to say the things I should say
I promised you then, it never would end
And I swear to you now it's still true
So I'm bringing you roses, long overdue
And there's something that I just need to say to you...
