Written sometime in July 2003. Recorded September 25th, 2003.
Sixteen year old singer-songwriter out of Cupertino, Califonia.
Story behind the song
A song written about a girl that seemed to be lost and desperate for answers. Originally written so that I would go into falsetto during the chorus and the third and forth lines of each verse, an idea I decided was ridiculous after some failed attempts to record the song.
Lyrics
Spending the night wishing on a star she can't see
Sending up a thousand prayers, praying someone's listening.
How long has she lived this way?
Praying for enough courage to face the day
How long has she run away?
Afraid to face the things the world might say
She says
I would walk on water
I would brave the fire
To get where I need to be
I would do anything.
Walks alone on a road she doesn't know too well
Counting, re-counting the times she fell
How long will she have to go
Before she finds what she is looking for
How long will she have to search
Before she discovers everything within her
She says
I would walk on water
I would brave the fire
To get where I need to be
I would do anything you want.
She's treading water waiting for answers
That may never come
How long will she be floating before she notices
She is drowning
I would walk on water
I would brave the fire
To get where I need to be
I would do anything you want
I would walk on water
I would brave fire
I would do anything, anything
Show me where I should be
And I'll believe.
