Sitting On Top Of The World

Something quite different from my normal fair - a very simple bluesy groovy sort of song written very quickly one day.
Just little ol' me - writing and recording heavy/progressive rock for the sheer fun of it!
, , and . . It's an odd choice, I know, but I've been using it for so long I'm just so damn used to it. Drum parts are worked out carefully on my kit, then painstakingly programmed in as MIDI data. Keyboards (where present) are done in a similar way. I'm not good enough at either to consider recording them direct. Bass, guitars and vocals are recorded through my TonePort straight into the PC. I use and a pile of free VSTs to knit it all together and it all sounds decent enough under the circumstances. Cheap and easy!

Story behind the song
Music: Dead simple blues riff in E major written in about 10 minutes. That's pretty much it! Lyrics: Pure inspiration, these words were written one day at work while recollecting my daily commute into London back in the good old days. Nice little twist at the end too... Recording: Written in a day, recorded in a day. I just threw it down and it all seemed to work. The one-take guitar solo could so with some polish, but it has a spontaneous feel I kinda like.
