Story behind the song
The story behind the song, Hes Just 18One night during a bombing raid during the gulf war one of our attachments was severely bombed killing several Marines and wounding many. I had been assigned as a Chaplains bodyguard and it was my duty to drive him to a memorial service the following day. I looked around and saw so many 18 year old men, along with me doing our duty the best we can, and living with the chaos of war. This is my tribute to all those who came before, during and after mePortions from the sale of this single are donated to 2nd Battalion, 7th Marines, 1st Marine Division (Brando's old unit)This is our tibute to America's service men and women... who fight, defend and serve so that this song could be made freely today... Lyrics
"He's Just 18" by Brando Quin and RavenPheat-- Hes just 18 Really just a boy He's been sent out to fight The whole worlds wars His innocence was lost It was nineteen forty-three Then came a bullet That boy's body bag was free With nothing but his rifle A bullet inside a gun Now there lies his gravestone Has he lost has he won His plane rides low Flying to and then from The only cost for freedom was a body bag and the mind of a son, of a son, of a son Hes just 18 Really just a boy First come Korea Then that Vietnam War His first few hours Of nineteen sixty six There was blood on his hands His friends made him crosses out of sticks His innocence was lost His innocence was gone Theres blood on his hands now His friends both lost and won His plane rides low Flying to and then from The only cost for freedom was a cold stone and the mind of a son, of a son, of a son. Hes just 18 Sent to a Gulf war There's a city called Kuwait Off of someone's desert shore Then he rolled into Iraq with nothing but that gun He gave it all he had and payed the price of a friendly's bomb With nothing but his rifle A bullet inside a gun Now there lies his gravestone Has he lost has he won His plane rides low Flying to and then from The only cost for freedom Was a body bag and the mind of a son.
