Story behind the song
An excerpt from the “The Citadel of Cynosure and Other Tales” Novelette Now Chelsea's crew must sail through scorching heat with dwindling food and water supplies until they reach Astai. Chelsea sees Bortarb's ship following them through the ship's scope but encourages everyone that they will reach Astai before Bortarb does. Hopefully, they will lose him in the maze of island waterways. Chelsea instructs them that they will dock in a hidden cove while provisions are brought on board from Astai. He reveals his ancestor's legends of mysterious islands on the other side of their planet and invites them to sail with him. He believes that they may find refuge there, hidden in the misty wilderness but that it will be very dangerous. He counts those who will go with them from Astai and instructs them about rationing provisions for the journey. Antel and Ashund separate themselves from the others as often as possible. Their growing friendship is the only thing that takes their minds off of the uncertain conditions they face. Ashund has become very fond of Antel but has not decided whether to go on the perilous journey with them or to look for her father, King Hom. Ashund falls asleep next to Antel resting her head on his lap. Antel stares at her beautiful dark hair and smooth skin. Antel wants Ashund to sail with him to find a new homeland where they can be free from oppression but realizes the danger involved. At the same time, he feels empty and sad when he thinks of being away from Ashund. He looks at her again and desires to kiss her and run his hands down her shoulders. Almost as if she senses his eyes on her, she awakens. Their eyes are caught in each others gaze until Chelsea interrupts. He senses the indecision and assures them that Astai will be unsafe from future attacks. Chelsea invites Ashund to sail with them but tells them they must be careful not be led by their emotions and that she must leave material affluence behind. Chelsea recites a poem from the Dreemurz Scrolls: ….from the CD, “The Citadel of Cynosure and Other Tales” © Whitman/Citadel Citadel® is a registered tradename - Used with permission - All rights reserved- www.citadelsongs.com, www.citadelband.com, www.citadelmusic.org

Mindshine (brainglow) © by CITADEL ® Words and Music © G. Whitman (BMI) In amongst the rising thunder There is an island free of strife But if the material pulls you under it's time to take another look at your life We are giving when receiving Should we choose to chase the dawn Put Past Perceiving Back behind now It's another morning's yawn And in your eyes, I can see the sunshine! In around a world of living There is room for us to grow But if the material pulls you under then there is much you need to know There are many miles between the minds of men making money moving motion Put Past Perceptions Back behind now Cease to wrestle your emotions And in your eyes, I will see the sunshine Can we find a reason for the life that's not around? Is it just the season or the search for newer sounds? Should we show our senses something secret? Worthless war defenses aim to keep us on the up and up and up... In amidst the rising shudder of the feast of coming dawn With a light above from the Tridium yielding faith to move along And in your eyes, I can see the sunshine! ….from the Novelette, “The Citadel of Cynosure and Other Tales” © Whitman/Citadel - Citadel® is a registered tradename - Used with permission - All rights reserved- www.citadelsongs.com, www.citadelband.com, www.citadelmusic.org
