Koan is part of the fresh wave of post-rock and hardcore situated in the HdS-scene en Belgium. Started in 2004, Koan released their first promo-demo counting 7 in-your-face-rock tracks. At that time, the lineup was: Tom on drums, Joris on guitar and vocals, and Laurens on rythm guitar. This demo contains some never heard Koan-songs and is no longer available for sale. In March 2005, the band found a bass player. Jesse took care of the bass-lines from that point on. As the band members grew older, their music became darker and more emotional. In August 2006, Koan recorded a new demo-ep containing 5 songs, bringing their new sound to the masses. The demo (called: Under a Bad Sign) is the new highlight in the Koan-history and features the 2 instrumental hit-songs "One Last Sunset" and the live-killer "Under a Bad Sign". The release of the UaBS demo opened new doors for Koan and they are playing some shows this fall. Also expect some new songs to be played during these gigs, because we're always writing new material...
