Hi, I've been writing songs since I was twelve years old, and recording them since 1985. Roger Cook (of the Cook-Greenaway-Cook songwriting partnership and Blue Mink, etc) once wrote that I have the ability to write a hit single and that he was waiting for one from me. He also said I need to 'lighten up a bit', unquote. F*ck that!

Story behind the song
My manager asked me to write a song for a Bristol band that had the idea of travelling to all the places called Bristol in the U.S.A., filming their musical liaisons with the locals as they went. My manager said they were a rock'n'roll type band but that none of their songs were up to scratch, so could I write one for them? I came up with this song and he said it was too good for the band in question, and that their idea of travelling to all the places called Bristol and playing with the local musicians was a ridiculous idea. But the band did the trip, the resulting film of their travels was broadcast on TV, and they never got to even hear this song. I watched the series and thought it was pretty good! They met lots of interesting people and made with music with them quite spontaneously, and it worked. Needless to say, I no longer have a manager.
