Lyrics
Freeman signed up for the second war Not knowing what's in store When he was seventeen Landing somewhere near the Burma Road Pulling a heavy load First action he had seen Chorus While men were falling around him Calling out his name He stood behind his rifle As it began to rain Smoke was rolling around him Up throught the darkened sky All he could hear was the sound of A hundred thousand cries Of soldiers going home Sweet home End Chorus Somewhere out upon the desert sand There stands another man Just barely twenty one He isn't sure about this foreign shore Or what he's fighting for Or all the things he's done While men were falling around him Calling out his name He stood behind his rifle He'll never be the same The smoke was rolling around him Blood stained the desert sand Somewhere a mother is crying Trying to understand Bring our soldiers home Sweet home
