“For me, music is the best therapy in the world . . . it helps keep the demons at bay”...Mark Coleman June 2005. Fast forward to May 2007, when singer/songwriter Mark Coleman creates SwitchBlade Romance and begins writing for what would eventually become “The Story of . . .” a four song EP that although lyrically is very personal, many of the perceptions revealed are also universal. “Everyone goes through a time when they have been used by someone, or wanted someone they couldn’t have and everyone has demons under their bed. The driving force for these songs is that dark side of the beauty that is life”. Those familiar with Mark and his passionate vocals will not be disappointed even though “The Story of . . .” is a more striped down affair when compared to previous projects such as “SeasonStream” and “Implulse”. It is still very evident that when Mark sings, his heart is clearly on his sleeve. “I love to sing, I love to write and I love to perform, music is life, it’s what keeps me going” SwitchBlade Romances first single “Sleeping In a Microwave” touches upon society’s need and fixation with perfection. “Most people these days, especially our youth, seem to be more worried about how others think they look than to how they actually are as a person and to be honest, that scares the shit out of me”. Open your mind and listen carefully to the well crafted story about the pursuit of perfection and the inevitable failure in that pursuit.

Lyrics
If beauty is only skin deep and seen through the eyes of the beholder, then what is perfection? Is it what you see? What I see? What they see? Is our perception so tainted that we no longer can see where true beauty lies? Is it because our minds have been washed with blankets of misconceptions, that we believe that if we don’t look the way they tell us too, the way they want us too . . . then that makes us different, that makes us outcasts. We all have fallen victim to this game and regardless of what we say or do nothing will ever change that. Because for some strange reason, we seem to find salvation, we seen to find our redemption . . . why’ll sleeping in a microwave, This is a story of a girl, who lived in a world Where Cosmo ruled her every move This is a story of boy, who wanted to make some noise In a world that only embraces sin Do you want it? Do you need it? Do you love it? This superficial life This is a story of a girl, who got lost in the words When she was told beauty is just a cut away This is a story of a boy, who was told he had no choice Always put down because he was different, so different Do you want it? Do you need it? Do you love it? This superficial life Who do you love? Is it you that you see or is it me? The mirror cracks, the mirror breaks Showing the lines of defeat that are etched upon your face Airbrush me with the thoughts of perfection lost Beauty queen, I want to be just like you Yeah you, in my magazines Do you want it? Do you need it? Do you love it? This superficial life Who do you love?
