Story behind the song
I wrote this song in the middle of surrendering. I'm not The Poster Child for Holiness. I wish I were, but I'm not. Neither are you. So.... relax. We have hope. We have Grace.
Lyrics
(Words and music by Rhonda Hanson. ©1991 Grace Under Pressure Publishing) I'm not who you'd call to mind when others talk of greatness. I am small. I'm not who you'd hope to find among the Lord's courageous. I still crawl. CHO: I still need His Grace. I still heed His Truth. I still plead His Blood at the altar of my youth. I am crude and unrefined but Jesus knows my weakness And offers Grace to even me. I'm not who you'd call to come and tell you of life's meaning. I'm not sure. I'm not who you'd gather from. I have no fields for gleaning. I am poor. CHO: 'Cause I throw away what I know of Truth. And I go so far from the altar of my youth. I am weak and overcome but Jesus has forgiveness And offers Grace to even me. I still need His Grace. I still heed His Truth. I still plead His Blood at the altar of my youth. I am crude and unrefined but Jesus knows my weakness And offers Grace to even me. I am weak and overcome but Jesus has forgivenness And offers Grace to even me.
