Story behind the song
MP3 Notes: The MP3 was recorded as it was played thru SynthFont using Merlin Grand's "A" Piano font. About this piece: "AttEtude" began life some time in the early 1990s as a fun little eight-bar repeated bass (LH) pattern. Shortly thereafter, I created a RH pattern (beginning with those repeated conjoined semitones). But, not being a performer or musician, I could never marry the two except in my head...until I acquired Cakewalk back in the mid-late 1990s. In 1997, I finally put the two together, expanded the piece with a variation on the RH part and added a Stride section. Still, it was only an incomplete idea for a piece. It wasn't until this year that I rediscovered the piece and revised it, fleshed it out (internally, as opposed to length), changed tempos and dynamics, and added some fingering suggestions. Now I think it's finally really cool, and exactly what I always intended it to be.
