Anti-war song written about the genocide in Bosnia Herzegovina in the 1990's but could just as well be about Iraq in the 2000's or Poland in the 1940's.

We're here in the Alternative General section, but could be anywhere (except for Children's Nursery) really...
Hi there - thanks for visiting my Sounclick page. I hope you like the songs I've posted here. I would be very happy to receive some feedback. I've checked the "Alternative General" tag for my musical style, but could have just as easily said "Folk Rock" or "Musicals" or "Acoustic" or "Instrumentals". That's one of the problems when you've been writing songs and music for as long as you can remember - after a while, you find you've tried everything (well, at least you think you have)! Anyway, music is about expression and not restrictions, so have a listen and let me know (kindly) what you think. Cheers, Pete

Story behind the song
A TV News report: I saw a mother kneeling down by the grave of her son, as a gang of paramilitaries opened fire with mortors on the mourners arriving by bus to the funeral. And then, the Berlin wall came down...
Lyrics
THE KILLING CUP Are we finally immune? Does nothing shock or terrorise? Behind the nightly TV gore Insensitised, we watch the world at war The bodies on the bus Families torn in two, three, four - maybe more But what's that got to do with us? We didn't make them go to war The law of history remains One man's freedom - one man's chains But still the body count goes up There's always more blood to pour into the killing cup The killing cup Are we really free from blame And is there nothing we can do But stand in witness to their pain As thousands die for freedom once again And who built the weapons And who sold the bombs Who fans the flames The TV cameraman lingers on, lingers on.... The law of history remains One man's freedom - one man's chains But still the body count goes up There's always more blood to pour into the killing cup The killing cup The bodies on the street Mothers weep but snipers keep the mourners from the grave They pray for guidance from above But soon there'll be nothing left to save Nothing left to save... The law of history remains One man's freedom - one man's chains But still the body count goes up There's always more blood to pour into the killing cup The killing cup The law of history remains One man's freedom - one man's chains But still the body count goes up There's always more blood to pour into the killing cup The killing cup As one wall comes down another wall goes up There's always more blood to pour into the killing cup The killing cup
