A mix of Political Satire / Facetious Comedy and some more serious music.
I 'm The Whale and I approve this message. I write songs about life here in America, because that's where I am. On thing I really like about songwriting is that you can tell the truth unequivocally and hopefully develop a fan base.

Story behind the song
This was the first song I ever wrote. It originated as a simple folk song and was first recorded in 1984 with jazz musicians as a rumba. Later it was played with a punk rock feel and then recorded again in 1997 as a zydeco folk tune. Now it's cut down to under three minutes with a reggae funk groove.

Here In America Words & Music by The Whale, © 2007 Fiat Lux! ASCAP Here In America - we’ve got lots of cars and gasoline Here In America - just like movies on the silver screen Here In America - people try to keep the city clean Here In America - urban decay’s tearing at the seams We’ve gotten out of harmony with life my love There’s so many things that we must rise above And though our indiscretions are standing in the way Better get a grip on it before it’s time to pay We are one all US on our way home Here In America - rich folks like to pay their taxes – yeah Here In America - other folks they live in shacks – as though Here In America - folks don’t know just what the facts is though Here In America - we all like to grind our axes We’re out on the highway of life my friends A road that will lead us all to our ends And some of our positions we can’t righteously defend The truth is reality don’t let yours be pretend We are one all US on our way home Here In America - folk’s aint known for what they’re doing good Here In America - bullets fly all through the neighborhood Here In America - fingers point but not to where they should Here In America - things don’t grow the way they really could Here In America, Here In America, Here In America. Here In America Here In America, Here In America, Here In America. Here In America Here In America, Here In America, Here In America. Here In America
