Story behind the song
My wife and I were hunting one year and a friend was driving by and invited us to his friends house. We quickly became friends and we started having band practice during the winter months at The Patriot House. I was inspired to write this song during the Christmas season hearing the stories about the house and the plans for the Bed & Breakfast.
Lyrics
FERN HILL THE PATRIOT HOUSE If your looking for a place to stay along the traveled road. The map gives some direction and tells you where to go. Not far off the main road, sits back up in the woods. Past the row of tall pine trees to a place called Fern Hill. Cross the creek over the bridge not far from the waterfall. The path your on opens up where the Patriot House stands tall. And standing like a soldier salutes when you stop by. The Patriot House upon Fern Hill where the roof top meets the sky. CHORUS Fern Hill………where the Patriot House stands tall. Fern Hill……….near the cascading waterfalls. You can see the Endless Mountains high upon the hill. And listen to the Bluestone Creek high upon Fern Hill. The house is full of history from books to the civil war. Come listen to the stories of legends and of lore. From nature walks down to the creek or bask in the fires glow. Your stay will be remembered where the Patriot House stands tall. CHORUS Fern Hill………where the Patriot House stands tall. Fern Hill……….near the cascading waterfalls. You can see the Endless Mountains high upon the hill. And listen to the Bluestone Creek high upon Fern Hill. So if you take the interstate turn onto 92, north bound to South Gibson not far from the lumber mill. A Left turn past the post office follow the winding road. That leads you to the tall pine trees that start upon Fern Hill. CHORUS Fern Hill………where the Patriot House stands tall. Fern Hill……….near the cascading waterfalls. You can see the Endless Mountains high upon the hill. And listen to the Bluestone Creek high upon Fern Hill. Fern Hill………where the Patriot House stands tall. Fern Hill……….near the cascading waterfalls. You can see the Endless Mountains high upon the hill. And listen to the Bluestone Creek high upon Fern Hill.
