Singer/Songwriter from Texas
CONNIE MIMS began her musical career in Houston in 1973 as a part of the acoustic group Wheatfield which evolved into the folk-rock band St. Elmo's Fire, performing everywhere from the Armadillo World Headquarters in Austin, Texas to The Troubadour in Los Angeles, to the American Festival in Chiba, Japan. She has co-written and toured two original rock ballets with the Houston, Chicago, Dallas and Fort Worth ballet companies; appeared in the first season of the PBS series Austin City Limits and in the classic Blue Bell Ice Cream commercial known as "Texas Musicians". Her comedic vocal impersonations of well-known recording artists were made popular on the nationally syndicated Q-Zoo in the Morning radio network. She is an avid supporter of the Texas music industry and is a member of the Nashville Songwriters Association, is a co-founder of The Woodlands Songwriters Association, and currently serves on the Board of Governors for the Texas Chapter of the National Academy of Recording Arts & Sciences. A songwriter and publishing affiliate with BMI, Connie won an Honorable Mention Award in the 2004 CMT/NSAI Songwriting Contest, and was also selected as one of the artists on the 2005 H.A.A.M. compilation CD, “Songs From The Stack”. She facilitates songwriting workshops as part of the Grammy in the Schools program. An accomplished vocalist, performer, and songwriter, she performs around the state both as a solo performer and with musical partner Craig Calvert as the duo Calvert & Mims. Connie tours bi-annually with the group Wheatfield, and the reunited band will release new recordings in 2007, to be exclusively available via digital download from the Trout Fishing in America website. Lyrics
THE SAME (C. Mims) © Pandulce Music BMI I could blame it on the rain; I could blame it on the weather I could give you one more chance and keep this thing together I keep looking back at yesterday instead of facing what is true It’s time to give in, call for a truce The more we try to change things, the more things stay the same Let’s leave it alone, call it a day, The more we try to change things, The more things stay the same for you and me I could keep an open mind and answer all your questions But I don’t think I can handle any more of your suggestions I keep trying to make sense of us Now my back’s against the wall It’s time to give in, call for a truce, The more we try to change things, The more things stay the same Let’s leave it alone, call it a day, The more we try to change things, The more things stay the same for you and me I won’t let you tell me how to feel You can’t tell me how to live So, it’s time to give in, call for a truce, The more we try to change things, The more things stay the same Let’s leave it alone, call it a day, The more we try to change things, The more things stay the same for you and me
