Lyrics
The bottles run dry and the money’s all spent. One of these days I’ll learn where it all went. Promises, promises, all dressed in white, and a voice in my head tells me, this can’t be right I had a vision about her and me, She wasn’t there that’s how I thought it should be. But when I came round I was cold and I’m wet, My head it still aches and I’m covered in sweat. I’ll tell you the tale of how me and my girl took a walk to the end of the pier The weather was fine but then I was unkind, and I’m sad to say I left her there. I can barely describe what was my state of mind, In my recollection there were tears in my eyes. I saw lights in my mirror, I had her life on my hands, But I never intended to be where I am now. I know it looks bad and just how deeply I’m in. But there was evil inside that drove me closer to sin. So read me my rights before you lock me away, There’s a place I must be and it’s where I should stay. I’ll tell you the tale of how me and my girl took a walk to the end of the pier The weather was fine but then I was unkind, and I’m sad to say I left her there. Oh I’m sad to say I left her there. Yes I’m sad to say I left her there. Yes I’m sad to say I left her there.
