Lyrics
I won't sell my friends by Noel Downs copyright We moved out to the country, To change our style of life, All the kids had left home, So it was just me and the wife. We planed on self sufficiency, Vegies, milk and meat, Cause everyone had said, Home grown flavour can't be beat. First we got some layer chooks, Then some ducks and geese. On all the surplus male birds, We had planed to feast. I bought myself a couple of pigs, Some goats and poddy calves. Thank god we grew a garden Or else we would have starved. Well laid plans don't always work, I guess it was meant to be. That each new addition, Became one of our family. At every cull I'd ask myself, Do we really need the meat? As the vegie patch was providing, Far more than we could eat. The wife, Christine, was happy, A whole new type of child. Took delight in all their tricks, And let them all run wild. Each was an individual, She gave each one a name. Each had it's own personality, And no two were the same. Numbers kept on growing, I lost count on that score. I took em all to get em fixed, Now we won't breed anymore! A back up plan was offered, Take em to the sales. But as I stated loading up, All my resolve had failed. Our kids think we're eccentric, And our neighbours think us fools, But we've gone vegetarian, Cause we can't be cannibals. So I'm old and senile, And probably reached the end! But I don't care what anyone thinks, I won't sell my friends.
