Song is about getting your fifteen minutes of fame
Mike Isenhart Stray Dogs Belleville IL Blues pop jazz rock
Hi! How did you wind up here?
Story behind the song
Growing up most of us have some sort of ambition to be somebody but the reality is that most of us won't be extraordinary. As each of us becomes another cog in the wheel of society and mankind, we discover that this is not necessarily a bad thing but an adjustment. Still.........we can't help but wonder?????
Lyrics
When I was young I wanted to be Superman,
beat up the bully, save the girl, and yell out “Yeah, I can!”We all know hero’s come and go
Red Ryder BB guns are best for shooting down buffalo
Growing up nothing stood in my way
Being grown up was Well, just a long long away
But adulthood came, nothing changed
I didn’t break the sound barrier and hardly anyone knows my name
Don’t need to be the constant popular guy
Just long enough to re-al-it-ize my 15 minutes will make me fly
Chorus
Wanna be more than ordinary That’s what I want to be
Is it only temporarily with paparazzi following me
Every day I climb from my cave go to the
job, dot the I’s cross the t’s usually without a life being saved
I wonder if there are many like me
Who want to transcend the possibilities and climb the highest tree
Is it luck, fate, or chance
With whom fame chooses to romance
If someone knows, tell me please
Celebrity’s car is passing by and I have no keys (Chorus)
Bridge
With flashing bulbs and limousines, exposing photo’s from some tabloid regime
Just instant fame, and when its lost and God you know it was worth the cost
