A slightly embarassing recount of a crush I had on a local blues musician.

Story behind the song
I remember the first time I met Patrick Sweany at the Tow Path Cabin in Massillion, Ohio. He and his dad just finished a set, with Patrick on guitar and his dad on the washtub. I could not--could not--take my eyes off of him. He had a slight pompadour and a voice that caressed my ears and took its time moving all the way to my toes.
Oh, I was smitten, yes I was.
There was a polite introduction from our mutual friend, Mike Lenz, another overwhelminginly talented blues musician, and Patrick and I talked into the night. There may or may not have been some bourbon involved.
Over the course of a couple of months, we got to know each other a little better with a night here and a morning there. My heart swooned. The only way to contain myself was to get this song on paper.
Recognizing that I was probably one of many in a sea of adoring groupies, I drifted away, and this song (injected with a little artistic license) is all that remains of a fuzzy couple of months where my dreams revolved around a fine boy with a pompadour, a guitar and velvet voice.
Lyrics
I think you want me
And I know I want you boy
Better ways I could say it
But it gets me to my point
I know you got so many
Little girls
Who adore you
But baby we all need
Someone to
Come on home to
Chorus
Don't deny
Please won't you try
I just wanna be true
Better believe it
Oh can't you see
How I've fallen for you
But no matter how many times
I say these words to you
You only walk away
And always leave me blue
Bridge
I sit in the darkness
And I watch your fingers move
And I think to myself
All the things that I could do to you
All the things that I could do to you
Oh, all the things I wanna do to you
I might just be reaching
For a bright, bright star
But I'm not talking crazy
Knowing we could do this right
You overlook me 'cause
Of how she done you wrong
How can I show you boy
That my love is your best shotChorus
Don't deny
Please won't you try
I just wanna be true
Better believe it
Oh can't you see
How I've fallen for you
But no matter how many times
I say these words to you
You only walk away
And always leave me blue
When you're not near
I'm always blue
When you're not here
I'm always blue
But you don't care
And you always leave me blue
