Story behind the song
The lyrics to this song were written many years ago when I was a sales rep for a video distributor in South Africa. I spent many hours in my car travelling the whole of Kwa Zulu Natal and had a long distance lover who was doing the same job. At that time, nobody had cell phones and so the only way to connect at such a distance was through the radio... even now, in 2007, it's pretty cool to connect with someone knowing that they're listening to the same radio station.
Lyrics
Verse 1: Long distance lover, turn on your radio I can hear you laughing Laughing at the same jokes Oh, long distance lover, turn on your radio I can see your smilin' face A thousand miles away Chorus: Connected by the sound waves Drawn by the power The power within... The radio Verse 2: Travelling the same path on different roads, Tuned in, our worlds collide Connected through the radio Oh, long distance lover, turn on your radio I can see that look on your face A thousand miles away Chorus Verse 3: Just heard the news broadcasted on the air Responding to the same words Feelings that we share Oh, long distance lover, turn on your radio I can see your saddened face A thousand miles away Chorus Verse 4: Oh I wanted to speak to you; couldn't find a phone So I turned on my radio So far away from home Oh, long distance lover, turn on your radio I wanna have you here in my space A thousand miles away Chorus
