"firesong" is the songwriting ministry of Dan Simmons Thanks for stopping by. It's my desire to faithfully share that which has been given to me. This website will be a sampling of recordings that I, along with family and friends, have done over past 45 years. There are over 600 original unpublished songs presented in demo form on this site. Story behind the song

I've been friends with Jean Peterson since the first grade, she is a wonderful Christian woman who has a unique sinsibility to the Spirit of the Lord.  Many years ago (early '90s)  she gave me a copy of a poem the Lord gave her.. It hung on a wall just over my desk for well over a decade and I would marvel at it and think what an incredible song it would make though I never could find a melody for it.  Until in God's timing He brought one to me.. I added a second refrain and it fell into place.  This is the first release of this song to the public though the words and music have been together for some years now  It's season has come.  This song is dedicated to the memory of Margret Whitworth, Jean's mother and a marvelous lady.
