"This is the story of a romance, that isn't really a romance at all. It's just two songwriters living out their love in a melody." Recorded live at Jammin' Java in Vienna, VA on August 18, 2003.

At 19 years old, Elizabeth Turner is a new face on the folk scene. She is currently playing various venues in the DC metropolitan area and is also working on recording her debut album. She is creating this album without the big bucks of a corporate record company. Her music style could be considered anywhere from folk, blues, jazz, and rock n’ roll to a little bit country. All songs on the upcoming album are written and performed by Elizabeth and include instrumental accompaniment from the guitar, banjo, mandolin, and piano to various sounds from a synthesizer, flute, and clarinet. At first glance, she seems like a shy, reserved young woman, but after she begins to sing with her mellifluous voice, she emits a deep soulful sound with, as she refers to them, her fairy tales. Her songs are tales of politics, love, and evading the corporate bigwigs. Audiences have compared her to Natalie Merchant, Jewel, Sarah McLachlan, Grace Slick, and Ani DiFranco. As some have said, “when she begins to sing, there’s this odd hush that takes over the place as they get lost in her voice and words.”

Lyrics
He was the most beautiful person That she'd ever seen And she told him so But only in her dreams She wrote him a song She wrote him her heart And she lived out her fantasies in a melody He thought the world of her too And tried to tell her when he sang But for some reason the words didn't come out right And she thought it was for somebody else She didn't know that those words She love to hear him sing Were actually for her And this is the story of a romance That isn't really a romance at all It's just two songwriters Living out their love In a melody And they dreamed of perfect conversations Of perfect metaphors that they both understood They concocted elaborate presentations All just to express their love And they plucked and they sang for crowds of strangers Who probably knew that this wasn't for real The perfect love song was missing just one thing A person to know that it's about them And to think the very same thing And this is the story of a romance That isn't really a romance at all It's just two songwriters Living out their love In a melody And they'll write their love into eternity But never into reality And a few years later they were sitting together talking And for some reason the words just began to flow He said, "You know that song that you loved so much? Well, it was about you." And she said, "Really? Well, that song you loved so much was about you, too." And they both just sat there Not saying a word And while they both just sat there They knew it was already too late Because they had both found someone new To sing to And this is the story of a romance That isn't really a romance at all It's just two songwriters Living out their love In a melody And when they think back At least they can say, "I gave that song to you."
