Dead Calm

Laid back instrumental with Pink Floyd type undertones. The song is built around a steady drone octave with a couple different bridges. It takes about a minute and a half before things get going - kick back, close your eyes, and relax!

The Splitting Hares are comprised of Kat and Eric Almlie and are based out of Chattanooga, TN.
The Splitting Hares is a husband and wife team. Over the years we have played in several bands and if there is a small town in the southeastern US that you have never heard of - chances are we have played there. The idea behind this project was kind of to break away from the typical cover band/bar scene that we were so used to and just play and record whatever we felt like doing. We have had little experience in recording studios making only the occasional demo. We purchased a DAW, a few microphones, and a few other little pieces, and just like that...we had our own music studio. Sort of. We are not engineers, we do not have a sound treated room, but we like making music - originals, covers, anything! The stuff we have put on our page here was done at home - the mixes you hear are not highly polished masters, please bear with us while we continue to learn about the wonderful world of home recording. Eric Almlie: All guitars, bass, backing vocals Kat Almlie: All drums and percussion, lead and backing vocals, bass on Tangled In You We are not after a particular sound and do not discriminate against any style or genre. So there might be a variety of stuff we post here. THANKS FOR LISTENING!

Story behind the song
Original idea was conceived in the late 80s. We recently brought it out and added a second bridge and additional guitar work.
