After spending a wasted youth performing in bands and as a solo artist, I'm currently only interested in songwriting and recording. OK, if you get me a little tipsy, or there's some money waved before my eyes, maybe my iron resolve will waver ... I'm only human, y'know?

Story behind the song
I met Linda through an online songwriting group and she gave me a stack of lyrics to work on. I chose this first because it really touched me. Since then, we've continued to write together and you'll probably see more songs posted here with lyrics by Linda. http://groups.google.com/group/san-diego-songwriter-cooperative
Lyrics
Vagabond Sweetheart Words: Linda Loegel Music: Wade B. Ward I smothered her with sweet springtime kisses Underneath the apple tree But when I asked her to be my Mrs. Here is what she said to me-- “Perhaps some day I’ll want to get married But first I want to travel round And see the sights the world has to offer before I settle down.” I love my wandering sweetheart I'll love her 'til I die, Earthly distance can never part My Vagabond Sweetheart and I. The summer sun rose high in the sky As I sat beneath the apple tree A postcard came from my wandering sweetheart "Greetings dear, from Italy." Her letters came from France and Malaysia From Rome and Greece and Timbuktu And then one day she wrote just one sentence “I’m coming home to marry you.” I love my wandering sweetheart I'll love her 'til I die, Earthly distance can never part My Vagabond Sweetheart and I. The hills were bright in red and gold The air was brisk and clear We made our vows and linked our souls- Two lovers for eternity Our youthful days flew past like the autumn Our silver hair turned snowy white But still our love grew stronger than ever And we held each other tight My sweetheart's gone on one final trip I know this time she won’t come home She’s wandering in the Land of the angels And left me all alone I love my wandering sweetheart I'll love her 'til I die, Heaven's distance can never part My Vagabond Sweetheart and I. I love my wandering sweetheart I'll love her 'til I die, Earthly distance can never part My Vagabond Sweetheart and I. We'll meet again someday, I know, My Vagabond Sweetheart and I.
