I wanted to write an anthem celebrating the great state of California -- something to rival Georgia On My Mind. You can tell me if you think I came close.

After spending a wasted youth performing in bands and as a solo artist, I'm currently only interested in songwriting and recording. OK, if you get me a little tipsy, or there's some money waved before my eyes, maybe my iron resolve will waver ... I'm only human, y'know?

Story behind the song
I had the title and idea for the song, and asked my wife, Estelle Toby Goldstein, to come up with a lyric that would describe a new morning dawning on various parts of California -- over the ocean, in the mountains, through the forests, in the desert, etc. I think she did a stupendous job!
Lyrics
CALIFORNIA MORNING C 2005 by Estelle Toby Goldstein and Wade B Ward Sun coming up in a sky as clear as crystal. Evening melts into the trees And leaves her dew, and I awake to find A California Morning makes the world seem new. Fog like a veil filigreed upon the harbor And the sun will chase the wisps As he breaks through, and streams into my parlor The California Morning makes the world seem new. Why should I leave, there's a peace I find That soothes the aching in my soul? I would come back, I would run back, California makes me whole. Sun shining down on the beaches and the deserts And the blossoms bloom anew, And there is life, and such abundant beauty. The California Morning makes the world seem new.
