Story behind the song
When I was a kid, my Dad would occasionally play one of his Marty Robins records and when he did, he'd sit back in his chair and say, "boy, that guy can sing." As the years went by I recgonized Marty Robins great talent and I became a big fan. Many years later in the late 1990's I joined up with a band from Indiana called "The Benders." and we sang a few Marty Robins songs. During that time I decided to try and write a song with Marty Robins in mind. "Cryin' My Heart Out" was the result of that experience. It remains one of my personal favorites that I've written.
Lyrics
Cryina€™ My Heart Out
Words and Music by Doug Cowen © 1999/BMI
Ia€™m cryina€™ my heart out, dying inside over you
Ia€™m missing your lovina€™ arms, those passionate lips and the charms, I once knew
Ia€™m lost in a bad dream and trying to wake up ita€™s true
And Ia€™m cryina€™ my heart out, Ia€™m dying inside over you
Ia€™m writing a letter that I know Ia€™d better not send
Cause Ia€™ve got my pride and I know words on paper could never mend
That regretful moment that now leaves me lonesome and blue
And Ia€™m cryina€™ my heart out, Ia€™m dying inside over you
Oh where have you gone? What can I do?
Remember those nights we rendezvoused
You swore you loved me but that wasna€™t true
And now Ia€™m cryina€™ my heart out, dying inside over you
Lead
Oh where have you gone? What can I do?
Remember those nights we rendezvoused
You swore you loved me but that wasna€™t true
And now Ia€™m cryina€™ my heart out, dying inside over you
And now Ia€™m cryina€™ my heart out, dying inside over you
Ia€™m cryina€™ my heart out, dying inside over you
End.
