For over 40 years I played lead guitar and did back-up vocals in various country bands. It has been one of the greatest thrills of my life. But, these days I stay at home and compose songs, both lyrics and music. My writing style is much broader than just country music. I also write southern rock, a little blues, lots of smooth jazz and movie themes and even some latin music. I have been writing for about 20 years and hope to for quite a few more years.

Story behind the song
Sometimes you have to ask your heart for forgiveness after your foolish mistakes in love.
Lyrics
These lyrics are written for a female vocal. However, I changed them in the vocal for a male singer, since I am not a female! Dear Heart © May 2005 Music: Alan D. David, BMI Lyrics: Rachel Kerr, ASCAP, and Alan D. David, BMI All Rights Reserved (v1) Dear heart, I’m the cause of all this pain I’m the one who made you hurt And broke you right in two Dear heart, though I try I can't explain Cause I just can’t find the words To make it all like new (v2) Dear heart, don’t know why I let him go Wish we had him back again Then we could stop these tears Dear heart, have we ever been this low Guess we’ll have to try to mend Stand tall and face our fears (Bridge) You’re the victim of my pride Yes, I tore you all apart And caused the tears that we’ve cried Can you forgive me dear heart (v3) Dear heart, if you’ll forgive me before dawn We can face another day If only we just try Dear heart, you know we must go on Yes, somehow we'll find a way Together, you and I (Tag) Can you forgive me, dear heart
