I saw a program on tv about jets. In this program which I found very interesting, they talked often of the "flight envelope." Part of the definition of a flight envelope or performance envelope of an aircraft refers to the capabilities of a design in terms of speed and altitude. The term is somewhat loosely applied, and can also refer to other measurements such as maneuverability. When a plane is pushed, for instance by diving it at high speeds, it is said to be flown "outside the envelope", something considered rather dangerous. It made me think of some woman I would see flirting with the guys at a bar I frequented at the time. In addition to the Irresistible similarities between these woman and jets, I thought the two words flight envelope not only had a catchy sound, but looked good on paper as well.
