Progressive, hypnotic, spontaneous, and sometimes quirky, ZEGG mixes jazz, rock, jam, funk, reggae, bluegrass, and blues. ZEGG is capable of the slightest musical nuance or a monstrous groove that rocks the house down to its foundation. Raleigh, NC's ZEGG is: Mike Gloss : Accoustic/Electric Guitar, vocals Jeff Simonton : Accoustic/Electric Guitar, vocals Chris Johnson : Keys, vocals Shane Bullis : Bass, vocals Bongo John Metcalf : Drums/Percussion, assorted chants and sundry hoots Biography Without going into too much detail, suffice it to say that ZEGG formed by chancea spontaneous collection of wayward souls who are music fans as much as they are musicians. Soon after the five members of ZEGG connected in 2004, theyas well as the strong fan base that quickly followeddiscovered that they had something special. THE SOUND ZEGG's sound gives gracious nods towards Steely Dan, Zeppelin, Bob Marley, The Allman Brothers, The Talking Heads, and many others. Yet ZEGG has a sound all its own, which is, at best, a funhouse mirror reflection of its influences. The band's live performances are based on compelling, well-written songs, tight musicianship, and a shared energy with the audience. To catch a ZEGG show is to witness the band's main ingredients: talent, brotherhood, creativity, fun, and soul.

Lyrics
I've got a friend forty-five feet tall looming in the sky Feel like a mouse three inches small scurrying on by But he loves his fellow man so why would they criticize My forty-five-foot tall friend looming in the sky High above the town below in a castle he resides Waiting for the chance to prove he's an upstanding guy But the townsfolk had a rotten plan to burn his castle down And run my forty-five-foot tall friend out of town Although it went against every moral fiber strand Exasperation got the best of my forty-five-foot-tall friend He through the crowd into the moat and thwarted their rude plan He then recalled the moat had biting rana caspiana Realizing what he had done, he dove into the moat to save the crowd And realizing what they'd become, they shouted out aloud: How awful we've become We cannot find a reason why we've been so wrong He's our fellow man, part of the great plan Enjoy the fruits of everyone We've got a friend forty-five feet tall looming in the sky And at night when the lights go down, we shine them fires bright And the townsfolk sit around and talk about why they were so bad To my forty-five-foot tall friend, my forty-five-foot tall friend My forty-five-foot tall friend looming in the sky!
