Across the street there stands a man
who stands there all alone 

I often wonder if he moves or if he's made of stone

the face he wears it stays the same
looking rather bleek

the clothes he wears are always pressed 
and he looks rather sleek

I think that he is lonely- it shows upon his face

if he moves I can't tell 
he never leaves a trace

his hands are in his pockets -his hat  pulled down tight

he looks ahead never back -be it dark -or- be it light

I wonder if his eyes are blue or darkened by the years

it looks to me he's cried a lot 
and sets upon his fears

I come and go most every day 
and there he always is

I here he had a daughter once 
they say her name was Jennifer

but now she's gone where did she go 
no one -seems to know

they say it broke his heart and delivered quite a blow

the day is gone the night is here 
and still he stands alone
