I got a Roy Rogers guitar with song book for Christmas in 1958. I learned a little and put it aside. In '63 a kid brought his electric guitar to school and played "Pipeline" at our sock hop. It looked easy, so I started a garage band. Eventually, I needed money for gas and dates, so I got a real job. We disbanded in '66, but best friend, Freddie, and I kept jamming over the years. We recently worked on a song he wrote and it inspired me to write my own music. Please listen and post a message.

Lyrics
Standing By The Highway 1. It’s 7 in the morning gray clouds cover up the sky I’m hoping for a ride see those headlights driving by All I got is 5 Jackson’s and a guitar by my side Chorus I'm standing by the highway Hear those big ol diesels whine I'm standing by the highway Hear those big ol diesels whine If you see my baby tell her that I miss her all the time (after verse 2 and finale) she’s always on my mind 2. Heading down the road fame and fortune’s on my mind I'll be riding home in style with a record deal signed If I don’t make it big in Nashville, L. A.’s just on down the line Chorus 3. I’ll get a backup band and I’ll write the songs we play I'll write about that highway and the dues I had to pay And how lonesome that you get when your baby’s far away Chorus
